Giraffe hero - Samantha Petersen
When kids enter adolescence, they are shy and they are feeling awkward about how they look.
But this was much harder for Samantha Petersen. This is why at age 11 was diagnosticated to her scoliosis, an abnormal curvature of the spine.
In August 2012, she was scheduled for surgery and her mother asked her if she could take a picture of her back.
When she saw the picture, she said that she didn't never see how beautiful she was.
After the surgery, Samantha's spine was stabilized and straight.
She launched a nonprofit organization to help those who aren't lucky as she's been.

New Year's Eve is celebrated all over the world, but in different ways.
In London, people dance in Trafalgar Square and many jump into the square's famous fountain and there is also a spectacular fireworks display.
In Scotland, people clean their houses on December 31st, in Ireland they hit windows or doors with cakes. In Puerto Rico they throw buckets of water out of the windows and us, in Italy, throw dishes out of the window.
In Denmark people smash dishes out of their friend's houses.
There are also other traditions, for example: if you have money in your pocket on New Year's Eve, you will have money all year. In Italy we usually eat lentils and pigs' trotters.
In Greece, people eat a special cake: everyone has a slice, but only one person gets a piece with a coin in it.

The Celts!
From around 750 BC to 12 BC, the Celts were the most powerful people in central and northern Europe.
People said that they were tall, with muscles, with their hair blond and they had moustaches that covered their mouth.
The Celts believed in many gods and goddesses, in fact they were over 400.
Many gods had no names and they lived in springs or woods.
The Celts believed that the human soul lived inside the head, so when people died, they cut off their heads and worshipped the skulls.
They believed also that the human soul had an afterlife, so when a person died they were buried with many things. Warriors were often buried with a helmet or a sword.
The Celts lived in scattered villages. The walls of their houses were made from local material and the houses had no windows, but there was a hole in the roof for escaping the smoke.

The Elephant!
Once upon a time, there was an elephant.
One day, the elephant went in the forest in search of friends. First, he saw a monkey on a tree and he asked her to be his friend, but she said that he was too big and he couldn't swing from trees.
Then, the elephant met a rabbit and he asked also to him if he wanted to be his friend, but the rabbit replied that he was too big for playing with him.
After that, he met a fox and he asked to her the same thing, but she said, like the monkey and the rubbit, that he was too big.
One day, the elephant saw all the animals ran out of the forest and he asked to a bear what was happening. The bear replied that, in the forest, there was a tiger that wanted to eat all the animals.
So, the elephant went in the forest and said to the tiger that he had to go away, he kicked him and the tiger ran away.
At the end, all the animals said to the elephant that he was just the right size to be their friend!

He loved his dog, that accompanied him everywhere. The prince had also a son, a swaddling babe whose mother had died in childbirth.
One day, Llewelyn and his men were preparing to go out hunting and the baby lay fast asleep in his cradle, that was covered with warm furs and Gelert stayed with the baby.
It was late when the prince returned home and he was tired, but as he entered the room he behed a terrible sight. Furniture lay upturned, tapestries had been ripped from their hangings and the baby’s cradle lay empty on the floor.
He looked down and he saw Gelert, so he killed the dog, thinking that he killed his son.
But, as the dog slumped to the ground, the prince heard a soft whimpering from behind the upturned cradle.
He picked up his son, alive, and he saw a huge wolf lying dead on the floor.
Then, he understood: Gelerts wanted to protect his son.
Gelert's body was buried outside the castle walls, close to the river.
The stone slab, inscribed with his name, still marks the grave and the village nearby still carries the name "Beddgelert" - Gelert's grave.

Politically Correct!
The modern politically correct movement began at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which is one of the most liberal colleges in the United States. Political correctness is a liberal degrading of the freedom of speech. Words or actions that violate political correctness are called politically incorrect.
At American universities, liberals began imposing political correctness to prevent recognition of differences among gender, religion, belief system, sexual orientation and nationality. My favourite TV series!
My favourite TV series is American Horror Story.
American Horror Story is an american horror television series created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. Each season has a disparate set of characters and its own story.
-Murder House.
The first season, subtitled Murder House, takes place in Los Angeles and centers on a family that moves into a house haunted by its deceased former occupants.
-Coven.
The third season, subtitled Coven, takes place in New Orleans and follows a coven of witches who face off against those who wish to destroy them.

Chocolate comes from the cacao tree, which is formally known as Theobroma Cacao.
Cacao trees flourish only in the hot, rainy tropics, in a swath 20 degrees north and south of the Equator. You can find them in West Africa, South-East Asia or in Central and South America.
The shape of the fruit is oval and its name is "pod".
The pod is open and, inside it, there are some beans; the beans are separated and they are put on banana leaves.
After a period of fermentation, when the beans are ready, they are send to factories.
"Theobroma" means "Food of gods".

The World Chocolate Wonderland is a theme park in Bejing(China). One of its attractions is a 12-metre-long replica of the Great Wall of China made entirely out of chocolate. There's also a chocolate BMW, as well as chocolate replicas of more than 600 Terracotta Army warriors.
-Chocolate couch.
In 2009, chocolate company Galaxy used 250kg of their own chocolate to make a chocolate couch. The couch was part of their "Irresistible Reads" campaign, which was designed to promote reading. It was put on display in Victoria Embankment Gardens in London.
-Chocolate shoes:
One of London's greatest chocolatiers, Phil Neal, once created a collection of high-heeled shoes made of chocolate.

Black History Month - Rosa Parks.
Black History Month is an annual observance in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom for remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African diaspora.
•Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks was an African-American Civil Rights activist, whom the United States Congress called "the first lady of civil rights" and "the mother of freedom movement".Her birthday, February 4, and the day she was arrested, December 1, have both become Rosa Parks Day.
On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks, a 42-years-old woman who worked as a seamstress, boarded a city bus to go home.
She sat near the middle of the bus, just behind 10 seats reserved for white people. Soon all of the seats in the bus were filled. When a white man entered the bus, the driver (following the standard practice of segregation) insisted that all four blacks sitting just behind the white section give up their seats, so that man could sit there.
Mrs Parks quietly refused to give up her seat. Her action was spontaneous and not pre-meditated, although her civil rights involvement and strong sense of justice were obvious influences.
She was arrested and convicted of violating the laws of segregation. Mrs. Parks appealed her conviction and thus formally challenged the legality of segregation.
Mrs. Parks was not the first person to be prosecuted for violating the segregation laws on the city buses in Montgomery. She was, however, a woman of unchallenged character who was held in high esteem by all those who knew her. At the time of her arrest, Mrs. Parks was active in the local National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)
At the same time, local civil rights activists initiated a boycott of the Montgomery bus system. In cities across the South, segregated bus companies were daily reminders of the inequities of American society. Since African Americans made up about 75 percent of the riders in Montgomery, the boycott posed a serious economic threat to the company and a social threat to white rule in the city.
A group named the Montgomery Improvement Association, composed of local activists and ministers, organized the boycott. As their leader, they chose a young Baptist minister, who was new to Montgomery: Martin Luther King, Jr.
After Mrs. Parks was convicted under city law, her lawyer filed a notice of appeal. While her appeal was tied up in the state court of appeals, a panel of three judges in the U.S. District Court for the region ruled in another case that racial segregation of public buses was unconstitutional. That case, called Browder v. Gayle, was decided on June 4, 1956. The ruling was made by a three-judge panel that included Frank M. Johnson, Jr., and upheld by the United States Supreme court on November 13, 1956.

Happy Days is an American television sitcom that aired first-run from January 15, 1974, to September 24, 1984, on ABC.
☻Plot.
Set in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the series revolves around teenager Richie Cunningham and his family: his father Howard, who owns a hardware store; his mother Marion, traditional homemaker and his younger sister, Joanie.
There is also a biker and high school dropout, Fonzie Fonzarelli, who would eventually become the Chunningham's upstairs tenant.
The episodes revolves around Richie and his friends but, when Richie left the series for military service, Fonzie became the central figure of the show.

New forms of art!
•Street Painting: Street Painting, also commonly know as pavement art or sidewalk art, is the performance art of rendering artistic designs on pavement such as streets, sidewalks, and town squares with impermanent and semi-permanent materials such as chalk.
Sidewalk chalk are typically large colored sticks of chalk mostly used for drawing on pavement or cement sidewalk. Sidewalk chalk is used at some universities to advertise for events, especially where there is much concrete.
•Dirty windshields art: A new form of art is drawing with "fingers" on cars' dirty windshields.

A talent show is an event where participants perform talents of singing, dancing, acrobatics, acting, or other activities to showcase skills, sometimes for a reward, trophy or prize.
In recent times, talent shows have become a notable genre of reality television such as Idol, Got Talent and The X Factor, which were critical in catapulting some amateur artists to stardom, and commercially successful careers.

Britain's Got Talent is a British Television talent show competition which started in June 2007.
Anyone of any age with some sort of talent can audition for the show. Acts compete against each other in order to gain the audience support while trying to win the title of "The winner of Britain's Got Talent".
Throughout the show, contestants must perform in front of the judges, and each year initial auditions have been held in front of a live audience. Auditions precede live shows, where the final 45 contestants perform nightly for a week in order to impress the British and Irish public.
Britain's Got Talent is known as one of Britain's biggest television talent competitions ans has also proven throughout Europe.
Diversity are an English street dance troupe. They are best known for winning the third series of Britain's Got Talent.
Collabro is a boy-band, formed by 5 boys. They sang a tune from Les Miserables, "Stars".

Shadowhunters-City of bones.♥
The Mortal Instruments is a series of six fantasy novels, written by Cassandra Clare.
The first novel is called "City of bones" and the story takes place in an urban and contemporary New York City.
Plot♥
A teenager, Clary Fray, begins seeing a strange symbol, worrying her mother, Jocelyn Fray, and her mother's friend, Luke Garroway.
Later, at a nightclub with her friend Simon, Clary is the only person who sees Jace Wayland killing a man.
Meanwhile, Jocelyn is abducted by two men, but she is able to call Clary and warn her about someone named Valentine and she drinks a potion putting her in a comatose state.
Returning home, Clary is attacked by a demon, but Jace appears and kills it.
Jocelyn, like Jace, was also a Shadowhunter, a warrior that slays demons.
Madame Dorothea, the Fray's neighbor and a witch, deduces that the two men seek the Mortal Cup, one of the tree Mortal Instruments given to the first Shadowhunter by the Angel Raziel.
Clary, Jace and Simone go to the Institute, the Shadowhunter's hideout, where they meet other two Shadowhunters:Alec and Isabelle Lightwood and their leader, Hodge Starkweather.
He reveals that Valentine seek the Mortal Cup to control all Shadowhunters and demons.
Hodge instructs Jace to take Clary to the City of Bones so the Silent Brothers can probe Clary's mind for the Mortal Cup's location. The Brothers uncover a connection to Magnus Bane, the High Warlock of Brooklyn.
Bane says Jocelyn had him block the Shadowhunter world from Clary's mind.
After that, Clary realizes the Mortal Cup is hidden inside one of Madame Dorothea's tarot cards what were painted by her mother.
The group goes to Dorothea's apartment but she has been replaced by a demon sent to steal the Cup. Simon and Jace kill it and Clary retrieves the Mortal Cup.
Clary gives the Mortal Cup to Hodge who betrays them by summoning Valentine Morgenstern and giving him the cup. Valentine reveals he is Clary's father and wants her to join him.
Clary and Jace fight Valentine, who falsely claims both are his children. They refuse to join him and, following a battle, Clary pushes him through the portal after giving him a fake Mortal Cup. The portal is destroyed, and Jocelyn is rescued, but she remains in a coma at the hospital.
Then, Clary uses her new-found powers to repair the apartment and Jace appears, confessing he needs her. Realizing she belongs in the Shadowhunter world, she goes with him.

St.George's Day is on 23 April, in honour of Saint George, the patron saint of England.
His embleme is a red cross on a white background and it was adopted by Richard The Lion Heart and brought to England in the 12th century.
St.George was a brave Roman soldier who protested against the Roman's torture of Christians and died for his beliefs.
The popularity of St George in England stems from the time of the early Crusades when it is said that the Normans saw him in a vision and were victorious.
One of the best-known stories about Saint George is his fight with a dragon. But it is highly unlikely that he ever fought a dragon, and even more unlikely that he ever actually visited England. Despite this, St George is known throughout the world as the dragon-slaying patron saint of England.
A traditional custom on St.George's Day is to wear a red rose in one's lapel, though this is no longer widely practised.
Another custom is to fly or adorn the St.George's cross flag in some way:pubs in particular can be seen on 23 April festooned with garlands of St.George's crosses.

The culture of Ireland includes customs and traditions, language, music, art, literature, folklore, cuisine and sports associated with Ireland and the Irish people.
The Celtic cross is said to have derived from the Chi Ro Symbol, as popularized by the Roman emperor, Constantine. "Chi" and "Rho" are the first letters of the word "Christ" in the Greek alphabet, and when these letters are interlinked, they appear similar to the cross at the centre of a Celtic cross.
But where does the cross's distinctive circle come from? The truth is, no one is sure, but among ancient races, circles were used to represent the moon and a cross and circle conjoined symbolised the sun. So, it's likely that the Celtic cross was originally a Pagan sun or moon representation, later used by the Romans in order to try to convert the Pagans of Britain to Christianity. According to Irish legend, St Patrick created the cross by drawing a circle around a Latin cross to represent the Pagan moon goddess. But to Irish Catholics, the circle can represent Christ's halo, or as eternity and the endlessness of God's love

Christians believe that the three points of the Irish trinity knot represent the three elements of the holy trinity:the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Pagans see the trinity knot as a representation of the natural forces-earth, air and water.
In terms of history, Christians feel that the Irish trinity knot started with the Monks, who brought the trinity knot design along with Christianity converting the Celts.
Saint Patrick’s Guild has many trinity knot pendants and jewelry available. In addition, with the holidays just around the corner there are trinity knot Christmas ornaments and cards are also available.

High Crosses or Celtic Crosses as they are are also known, are found throughout Ireland on old monastic sites. Some of this crosses were probably used as meeting points for religious ceremonies and others were used to mark boundaries.

Meaning of the Triskele:
The Triskele, also called the spiral of life, the triple spiral and the triple goddess, is three equal spirals radiating from a common center.
It is an ancient symbol with versions that have been found in a number of cultures around the world.
The Celtic Triskele was found in the remnants of an ancient temple from the Bronze Age in Ireland. It is believed that it evolved from the triskellian, a symbol wich looks like three legs running.
The triskele came to be associated with the Triple Goddess (maiden, mother, crone) in pre-Christian times and has been found in illuminated manuscripts created by monks transcribing early Christian texts.
Leprechaun:
A Leprechaun is a type of fairy in Irish folklore, usually taking the form of an old man, clad in a red or green coat, who enjoys partaking in mischief.
The Leprechauns spend all their time busily making shoes, and store away all their coins in a hidden pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
If ever captured by a human, the Leprechaun has the magical power to grant three wishes in exchange for their release.
Popular depiction shows the Leprechaun as being no taller than a small child, with a beard and hat.
